The app for parents of children 0 to 5

Know your child is learning and thriving, every day.

Learning experiences for children aged 0 to 5, handcrafted and tested by qualified teachers and educators, planned around your child and the milestones they are working towards.

Made by Leonie and Shannon, the founders of The Learning Nest Co.

A learning experience open in the NestEd app, showing what it builds, the aim and what you will need

The same teaching, on the days your child is at home

At the centre, your child learns through intentional, play-based experiences planned by qualified teachers. NestEd is that same thinking in your pocket, so the days between sessions can be just as rich, without you having to plan a thing.

Made by Leonie and Shannon

Founders of The Learning Nest Co., and qualified teachers and educators. Every activity in NestEd is one they have written and actually run with children.

More about Leonie and Shannon

Real teaching, without the mental load

Written by educators, not an algorithm

Every activity comes from qualified early childhood educators and teachers, mapped to the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 and the ACECQA developmental milestones.

It knows what is in your cupboard

Tell it what you already have and it only ever asks you to buy what is missing. Most activities need nothing you do not own.

A record, never a report card

Milestones are noted as things you have seen, with a date. Nothing is ticked off as done, nothing is scored and nothing is compared to another child.

Four steps, then you are set for the week

  1. #1

    Tell us about your child

A first name and the month they were born. That is genuinely all we need to start suggesting things that fit.

  2. #2

    Pick something to do

Search by what they are into, or by how much time and patience you have left today. Every activity was written and tested by a qualified educator.

  3. #3

    Put it on a day

Drop experiences onto the week. The shopping list for anything you do not already have gathers itself.

  4. #4

    See what you have covered

Which of the five developmental areas your week has touched, and gentle suggestions for the ones it has not.

Built around how the day actually goes

Some of it is planning. A lot of it is for the moments when there is no plan left in you.

Nap time ideas

Filter for quiet experiences you can do with the older one while the baby sleeps.

Running on empty

A calm screen of no-prep ideas for the days when the tank is empty, with no guilt attached.

Out and about

Games that need nothing but you and your child, for waiting rooms, queues and slow restaurants.

Plan my week

Fills the rest of the week for every child, spreading across developmental areas and working around the forecast.

A shopping list that writes itself

Anything you do not have gathers into one list, grouped by store, and ticks off as you shop.

The week's weather

Indoor or outdoor suggestions to match, and wet weather swaps when the forecast turns.

Share without an account

Send a grandparent an experience, a shopping list or the week, through a link you can switch off later.

Yours on the home screen

Your family's information stays your family's

No ads

Nobody can pay to reach your child: no ad network, no sponsorship, no paid placement. If an article passes on a flyer somebody sent us, it names them and says no money changed hands.

We never sell your data

Not to advertisers, not to anyone. There are no third-party trackers in NestEd.

We ask for very little

A first name and a month of birth is all a child profile needs. Photos stay in your account.

Ask the NestEd team to delete your account and all of it goes, completely.

Good to know

Do I have to be a Learning Nest family to use it?

No. NestEd is open to any family with a child aged 0 to 5, anywhere. Our families often use it to keep the learning going at home between sessions.

Is it on the App Store or Google Play?

Not yet. NestEd runs in your browser and installs to your home screen, so it behaves like an app without a download. Go to thenestedapp.com on your phone and choose Add to Home Screen.

Will I need to buy a pile of craft supplies?

No. You tell the app what you already have, and most experiences use everyday things around the house. Anything missing goes on a shopping list you can ignore or use.

Does it tell me whether my child is behind?

Never. Milestones are recorded as moments you have seen, with a date, and nothing is scored or compared. Every child develops at their own pace. If anything is worrying you, your GP or child health nurse is the right person to talk to.

Who do I contact about the app?

The NestEd team looks after the app directly at hello@thenestedapp.com. For anything about sessions at the centre, talk to us as usual.

Never run out of ideas to spend time with your child.
